The majority of us cringe just hopping in and from the shower through the bone-chilling Korean cold weather, but also for some adventurous (if masochistic) surfers, cold weather marks the optimum time to smear some jelly on the board and jump in to the sea.

To start the brand new year’s first Weekender issue, the Korea Herald published a roundup of the five hottest cold weather surfing spots in the united kingdom.

“Pohang is an excellent spot for surfing -- in cold weather particularly, beneath the right conditions the waves could be world-class, ” surfer Min Kyung-shik told the paper, adding that waves are bigger and stronger in Korea through the cold weather, because of the winds from the north.

“Don’t worry the water isn't as cold as you imagine. It is almost always between five and 10 degrees C rather than goes below three degrees, ” said Min.

Actually, we’d rather maybe not consider it all if we are able to make it.
