The death of Mark Foo Tells from the Maverik's surfer.
Images from "Riding Giants", a famous documentary about the history of surfing.

23rd December 1994, Mark Foo died in a surfing accident at Mavericks, a big wave off the coast of Northern California. When starting on a relatively low wave estimated at 18-20 feet (Hawaiian scale), Foo experienced a seemingly innocuous wipeout which led to his drowning. The assumption that the most popular surf leash had to be Foo caught on the rocks, goes with the turbulent currents of the second wave of a release of her ankles and get to the surface. Foo's death shook the big wave surfing community as one of his famous runners died. Paddled over 150 users in the bay and formed a large circle.
